Hinton fugitive steals county car

by C.F. David

A 22-year-old fugitive, fled a driver's license check on Sunday, evening Aug. 28 and later stole a second vehicle from a rural Cimarron County home.

“A trooper had him stopped at a driver's license check. He asked him to step out of the pickup and he took off,” explained Cimarron County Sheriff Keith Borth.

“That's when we had the manhunt out around the dairy,” Borth added.

But, somehow the fugitive evaded the search and took another car from a farm home. That car was located in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Sept. 1.

“We think he's in his fourth car. He also has a cell phone from one of the cars and has been in contact with a man in Hinton. He is supposed to be traveling to Las Vegas by way of Utah,” Borth said.
