Titans declaw Tigers, 60 to 18
The Keyes-Yarbrough Eight-man Co-op Titans evened their win loss columns to 1-1 with a 60 to 18 pounding over Duke's Tigers at Yarbrough's Lobo Den on Friday night.
The Titans which depended on a devastating ground game scored their first two touch downs on short bruising five yard runs by Nico Collins and Tanner Williams; both PATs for two were successful and the Titans led 16 to 0.
The Tigers came back and scored six on a four-yard run by Migel Ybarra, the PAT fail and the first quarter ended with a 16 to six score.
Brock Chance scampered 14 yards for the first Titan TD of the second quarter; Quarterback Logan Grazier added two.
Tanner Williams scored the third Titan TD of the first half on a five yard run; Grazier added another two.
Ybarra scampered 70 yards on a kickoff return and scored the second Tiger TD; the PAT was no good.
Chance topped off the Titans first half with a 10 yard run and Dale Alderette added two, and the Titans ended the first half with a 46 to 12 lead.
The third quarter turned into a defensive battle as neither team scored.
In the fourth, Chance scored again on a 19 yard run, and Williams tacked on another two points.
The Tigers Brandon Willis rumbled 65 yards for a TD, the PAT failed and Duke trailed 54 to 18.
The Titans then opened up their passing attack with Grazier connecting with Alderette for a 38 yard TD reception; the PAT failed and the Titans took home their first victory 60 to 18.
The Titans rang up 14 first downs to Duke's eight; 405 yards rushing and 36 by air brought the Titans total yardage to 441 compared to the Tigers 102 on the ground and 64 by air for a total of 166 yards.
Duke completed five passes in 14 attempts with one interception.
The Titans completed two in seven attempts with no interceptions.
The Tigers were forced to punt twice for a combined 13 yards; the Titans punter had the night off.
The Tigers fumbled once and lost it; the Titans fumbled once and retained possession.
The Tigers were penalized three times, a total of 15 yards; the Titans five for 55 yards.
