Cayton returns from D.C. trip for Tri-County Electric

Tacie Cayton, a student at Keyes High School, has returned from a week in Washington, D.C.

Cayton, is the daughter of Curtis and Tangee Cayton, and was the Cimarron County winner of the 2005 Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour contest sponsored by Tri-county electric of Hooker.

Sixty-four young people representing 25 of Oklahoma's rural electric systems left for the nation's capital on June 18.

“In my opinion, the most exciting part of the trip was getting aquainted with so many students my age and making friendships that will last,” Cayton said.

Some of the highlights she enjoyed were the U.S. marine Sunset Parade, veterans being honored by the marines, and a visit to the Holocaust Museum.

The winners toured the capital's historical monuments, the Library of congress, the capital building, Mount Vernon and the national Cathedral.

The group hosted a congressional summit for the Oklahoma delegation assisted by Congressman Frank Lucas and his staff.

On June 22, the group met with more than 1,425 youth winners from across the nation for a banquet and dance hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
