I have so many great memories of my first Santa Fe Trail Daze. Last year I was in Muskogee helping with my grandmother. I am so glad I was able to be here this year and am already planning on joining more of the activities next year.

My family went to the queen's coronation at the Methodist church and heard several choirs and individuals sing. My favorite had to be when they sang “Hello Dollie” but changed it to “Hello Sally”. God even joined the music with some thunder and wonderful rain.

I loved going to the night of praise at the auditorium. I had no idea there were so many talented people in this area. I don't want to play favorites but I have to say Ghost Riders in the Sky” was awesome. It gave me chills.

The next night there was even more music and singing. The highlight for me was when Cody was singing “Kawliga” and was surprised by three little Indian maidens. One family even had several generations singing and playing with the youngest being four or five years old singing backup for her mom. What a wonderful family tradition.

I enjoyed watching the parade but was disappointed when my old buddy, whose initials are E.G., didn't throw any candy my way. Daddy says we will ride our bikes next year but I say I'd rather drive a car. You'll have to wait until next year to see who wins this debate.

We stopped by the quilt show. Goodness gracious, they put a lot of work in making those so beautiful. Mom says it has inspired her to get us started making a quilt. We have my grandmother's old quilting racks so I guess we are going to learn how to use them.

One thing I don't want to learn to do is milk a wild cow like those guys in the rodeo. We sure had a great time watching them but they must be a whole lot tougher than we are.

I have had a great week of celebrating Santa Fe Trail Daze. I just thank God that he has so many people in this area willing to work hard, share their talents, and make something like this week happen. I can't wait until next year so I can be more involved in all the activities.
