This week I am looking at the ugly monster, obesity. The definition of obesity is having a BMI (body mass index) of 30 or higher. A formula using height, weight, and waist measurement determines your BMI. Several websites will calculate your BMI for you, such as MSN Health and Fitness. Many of you know I am overweight. Even though I have lost 23 pounds, there is a ways to go yet. My BMI is 26 which still puts me in a high risk area for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, sleep apnea, and stroke. How do we fight the fat? Decide you are going to be healthy, eat balanced meals, get off the processed foods/sugars, and exercise. Feeling tired and bloated? Fighting poor health issues? Get back to basics and join me in the fight against fat. Sources come from the MSN Health and Fitness website and www.mercola.com . Boise City News |
