Vannatta named to second professorship
Norman- Jerry B. Vannatta M.D., of Keyes who holds the John Flack Burton Professorship of Humanities in Medicine has been named the David Ross Boyd Professor of Internal Medicine by the University of Oklahoma at the spring faculty meeting of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
The David Ross Boyd Professorship is given to one or two professors per year by the university. It is awarded for excellence in teaching and outstanding leadership at the university.
Dr. Vannatta who was dean of the college of medicine from 1996 to 2002 teaches internal medicine in the medical school, and Literature and Medicine in the Honors College on the Norman campus as well as in the medical school.
This spring the senior medical school class of 2005 also named Dr. Vannatta the Aesculapian Award winner -an award given to the faculty member they deem the best teacher for the 2004-2005 academic school year.
