We tend to depend on prescriptive or over-the-counter medicines to help us get over aches and pains, but there are other alternatives.
A friend of mine sent me some tips using food as medicine.
HEADACHE- Eat fish; fish oil helps prevent headaches. So does ginger.
HAY FEVER - Eat lots of yogurt and eat honey from your area daily.
PREVENT STROKE - Drink tea to prevent buildup of fatty deposits on artery walls. Green tea tends to be the tea of choice. Avocados help unclog the arteries, also.
ASTHMA - Eat onions to help ease constriction of bronchial tubes.
ARTHRITIS - Take omega oils or eat lots of fish.
UPSET STOMACH - Bananas and ginger help settle upset stomachs, nausea, and morning sickness. (I have a sister who uses ginger to help with sea sickness)
BLADDER INFECTION - High acid cranberry juice controls harmful bacteria. I have found cranberry pills that do just as well.
BONE PROBLEMS - Bone fractures and osteoporosis can be prevented by the manganese in pineapple.
COLDS - Clear up stuffy heads with garlic. Also it is good for lowering cholesterol.
Other great foods to eat on a daily basis are apples, celery, olive oil, nuts, broccoli, strawberries, blueberries, oranges, watermelon, guava, papaya, tomatoes, and dark green and orange veggies. The above are great antioxidants, cancer fighters, blood sugar balancers, and immune system boosters.
The old saying, “you are what you eat”, is so true. Let's get back to basics.
