Earthquake rattles S.E. Okla.

The OGS detected and located an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 in Pittsburg County, on Sunday, May 27.

The earthquake occurred at 4:03 PM CST. The epicenter was 1.4 miles SW of Indianola.

The earthquake was reported felt in McAlestar, Lamar, Okmulgee, Holdenville, and Weleetka. Persons reported “house shook throughout”, “felt like a truck hit house”, “water sloshing in container”.

No damage was reported. No damage is expected from an earthquake of this size.

A magnitude 2.4 aftershock occurred six minutes later. Apparently nobody felt the aftershock.
