Election Filing Deadlines Candidates seeking political office in Cimarron County will be able to file during regular business hours from 8 a.m. June 7, to 5 p.m. June 9. Candidates for state office must file with the secretary of the State Election Board; for county offices, the Secretary of the county election board. Vicki Turner, Secretary of the Cimarron County Board said the following offices are up for election; Court clerk, Sheriff, County clerk and Commissioner, District 2. “Oklahomans wishing to elect the nominee of a political party should make sure they are registered correctly no later than Monday, May 31,” said Turner. Each party can nominate one candidate per office for the November General election. If two or more file from each party for the same office, a primary or runoff primary is required. A registered voter from either party may vote for the individual of their choice regardless of party during the November General election. Applications to register or to change your affiliation are available in the Election Board office in the Cimarron County Courthouse basement. Boise City News |
