BCHS Music Department scores Superior ratings
The Boise City band and vocal students have recently attended district solo and ensemble contest at OPSU in Goodwell. Band students receiving a I or superior rating were juniors Laura Torres, baritone, and Brenda Weaver, marimba; and freshman Destry Elms, trumpet. These high school students will compete in Stillwater at the state instrumental competition in April.
Junior high band students also receiving a 1 or superior rating were eighth grader Calye Cochran, French horn; seventh graders Kanon White, alto saxophone; Lacey Wilson, trumpet; Lindy Moore, trumpet; Zach Prather, trumpet; and Josh Faulkner, snare drum.
Other band members performing solos were senior Dustin Kincannon, trumpet; junior Leslie Rosas, flute; Sophomores Victoria Willett, clarinet; Jonathan Faulkner, trombone; Brittni Crane, alto saxophone; freshmen Denisse Hernandez, clarinet; Trent Setliff, baritone; eighth grader Barbara Weaver, trumpet.
The following week, members of the Boise City High School Vocal Department also attended district contest at OPSU in Goodwell. Soloists receiving a 1 or superior rating were seniors Shandra Oyler and Kassidy Smith; junior Brenda Weaver; sophomores Jonathan Faulkner and Victoria Willett; freshman Destry Elms. These students will also be attending state vocal competition at Shawnee in April.
Others participating in the vocal contest were high school sophomore soloists Heather Axtell, Toni Broaddus, Brittni Crane and senior Kaele Alvarez. A mixed trio selection was performed by Brenda Weaver, Jonathan Faulkner, and Victoria Willett.
As pictured in last week's edition, the triple trio received a 1 or superior rating which advances them to the state level. Members of the triple trio were Brittni Crane, Heather Axtell, Toni Broaddus, Victoria Willett, Kassidy Smith, Kaele Alvarez, Shandra Oyler, Brenda Weaver, and Shelby Terry.
