Wiley receives Weiberg Scholarship
Jimmy D. Wiley, son of Corine and the late Dale Wiley of Keyes, and who is a sophomore and student assistant coach at NOC Jr. College, Tonkawa, Ok., was honored to receive the first Jared Weiberg Scholarship award. This award, to be given annually, was given in commemoration of Weiberg, who was killed in a plane crash, along with, as some may recall, 9 others who were players and staff members of the OSU basketball team in 2001.
Weiberg was from Tonkawa and members of his family, as well as the College President presented this award to Jimmy Dale between games last Tuesday night at the NOC field house, it was a fairly solemn ceremony as they announced some of the accomplishments and personal attribute that Jimmy was being recognized for, that helped him achieve this very special award. It was also announced that he was a Keyes graduate, and it was later determined that several Keyes graduates and former students going back to 1955 were on hand to witness the event including David and Verla Lawson, Josh Brown, Shay Lisik, Jerod Moore, Austin Haynes and Luke Elms.
