Hello all,

This is my year anniversary for writing my article. I have written forty one articles. My first article was on Jan. 18 th of 2006 about how Boise City is so exciting and I still believe that!

This Monday was also Martin Luther King Jr. Day! In 1986, Martin Luther King Day was established as a United States holiday.

He was a Baptist minister who became a famous leader of the American civil rights movement. He was known as a great public speaker who said it was our personal responsibility to help with world peace. In 1964, he even became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. It was because of all his work promoting nonviolence and equal treatment for different races.

King's most famous words are in his “I Have A Dream” speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington , D.C. As one of the children in a generation after him I am glad more of us are judged by the content of our character instead of just the color of our skin. Because of him and others like him all Americans enjoy the same legal rights.

He is one of the greatest men to ever walk the earth in my opinion. His life could be summed up by one of his other famous sayings “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or as Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was called to be a peacemaker and he did his job well.
