School election nears

According to Cimarron County Election Secretary Vicki Turner, Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 , is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the annual school election on Feb. 13.

Individuals who are 18 years of age, citizens of the United States , and residents of Oklahoma may apply to become registered voters.

Individuals who have never registered, or who aren't currently registered in the county or their residence, or who need to change their registration information may apply to register or change their information by filling out and mailing an Oklahoma voter registration form; it must be postmarked no later than midnight, Friday, Jan. 19.

Applications mailed after the deadline will be accepted and processed, but not approved until after the Feb. 13 election.

The election board will respond by mail to each application; the response will be either a voter registration card listing the voter's precinct number and polling place location, or a letter explaining the reason(s) the application was not approved. Any individual who has submitted an application and not received a response within 30 days should contact the election board office.

Voter application forms are available at the election board office in the Cimarron Court House basement. If the office is closed applications will be in the holder on the door, and applications are also available at the tag office.
