The old garage that once served as the Case Dealership on East Main in Boise City will soon have a new life as a tanning and exercise salon, and eventually a new restaurant is also planned.

Michael and Kathleen Myers, of Myers Tires on East Main have bought the building and hope to have the salon open early this year. The restaurant will take a little longer.

The building which had suffered from neglect recently received a brief make-over when the CIMCO group covered the windows and door with painted fence panels.

The Myers plan to use the upstairs area for the salon with two tanning beds, free weights and other exercise equipment soon to be installed.

“We see being able to find help as the only limiting factor,” Michael Myers said.

The Myers' plan is to sell memberships to the salon, where entry and usage will be permitted by a keyless entry system.

The upstairs area, which takes up less than one-third of the buildings length, will also have music piped in to making the tanning and exercise a more pleasurable experience.

The longer, lower part of the building will, the Myers hope, soon becomes a restaurant. They would like to have it open by early summer, but think early fall is a more reasonable goal.

“We want to leave the beams in the ceiling open, and use the garage door as our store front. We'd like to install a pond and waterfall along with a fireplace,” Myers said.

“We see this place, ( Boise City ), as an opportunity,” Myers added.

Asked, since he felt that finding employees was difficult how he would staff a restaurant, Myers replied, “I think the key there is to not build a restaurant that will need 25 people to staff it. You have to be smart.”

“I plan to use local merchants whenever possible, the lumber yard, A.J. Electric, Ferguson Plumbing; because I don't think you can save money by driving to Amarillo ,” Myers said.
