Mailed ballots available for Dec. 14 election

Voters in Cimarron county who wish to have their absentee ballots mailed to them for the Boise city School Bond Election should apply now.

Any registered voter may vote absentee in any election in which they are eligible to vote, no reason or excuse is needed.

However, several reasons are available:

H Voters who are physically incapacitated and those who care for the physically incapacitated who cannot be left alone. They may apply by mail, fax, or telegraph.

H Voters confined to nursing homes; an absentee voting board will go to the nursing home to set up a polling place. They may apply by mail or fax.

H Military personnel and county residents living overseas and their spouses and dependents. They are eligible to vote without being registered; they may apply by mail or fax. Military personnel should contact the Voting officers in their units.

Residents living overseas may obtain the same materials from any U.S. Military installation or embassy or consulate.

The Election board may accept applications until 5 p.m., on Dec. 7; but applicants should apply early. Forms are available at the Election Board office in the courthouse basement.

At least two mail transactions must be made, the ballot must be mailed to the voter and then returned by mail no later than 7 p.m., on election day.
