Saunders takes chair at Augusta State Augusta , Ga. – Dr. David K. Saunders, former professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Emporia State University in Emporia , Kan. , has been named chair of Augusta State University 's Department of Biology. Dr. Saunders, a native of Boise City , Okla. , began teaching as an assistant professor in 1992 at Emporia State . His research interests include physiological ecology, blood viscosity, and hematology invertebrates. A member of the Kansas Academy of Sciences, Dr. Saunders is also a member of the Kansas Herpetological Society and Sigma Xi Fraternity. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Oklahoma Panhandle State University , a master's degree in zoology from Emporia State , and a doctoral degree in physiology from Kansas State University .
