Time grows short for those wanting to vote by mail
Cimarron County voters who wish to have absentee ballots mailed to them in time for the Nov. 7 election have less than a week to apply according to Cimarron County Election Secretary Vicki Turner.
The Election Board can accept applications until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in order to be processed.
Any registered voter may vote by absentee ballot in any election in which he or she is eligible to vote. A reason or excuse is not necessary, but some are available, such as:
F Voters who are physically incapacitated, or those caring for an individual who is physically incapacitated. they may apply by mail, fax or telegraph
F Voters who are confined to a nursing home. The board will go to the facility and set up a polling place. These individuals may apply by mail, fax or telegraph.
F Military personnel and county residents living overseas and their spouses and dependents are eligible to vote absentee. They may apply by mail or fax. Military personnel should contact their voting service officers for applications and forms.
F Oklahoma residents living overseas may obtain the same materials from any U.S. military installation, or embassy or consulate.
In person absentee voting may be done at the Election board office in the courthouse building on Friday, Nov. 3 - 8a.m. to 6 p.m. ; Saturday, Nov. 4 at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m ; and Monday, Nov. 6, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
